Environmental monitoring & response
Deploy into existing sites without rewiring, alterations or interrupting operations
When temperature or humidity moves outside the required range, Lindos OS combines continuous readings, goods requirements and storage occupancy to adjust conditions and storage locations, reducing exposure and product damage.
How a decision becomes action
Gather data → Plan → Identify issues → Adjust → Review results
- ↓Out-of-range time
- ↓Damage rate
- Cold stores
- Cold-chain transport
- Pharmaceutical storage
Before & after
Temperature and humidity records for a shipment are held separately by the factory, transport operator and cold store. If a vehicle has not been pre-cooled or a cold-store door is left open, goods may already be affected by the time limits are exceeded. Storage zones and locations are assigned manually.
Temperature, humidity, door status and cargo-compartment temperature are recorded throughout the journey and stored by batch. Vehicles are pre-cooled before loading, and incoming goods are assigned storage zones and locations according to their temperature requirements. An open door or a temperature approaching its limit triggers a reminder to close the door and a recommendation to move goods. The full temperature record accompanies the batch when it leaves storage.
The door to Cold store A has been open for 6 minutes. The temperature has risen to 7.6℃.
Required chilled storage range: 2–8℃.
Suggested action:Prompt the team to close the door and pause incoming stock to Cold store A. Move heat-sensitive goods to Cold store B first.
Based on: storage temperature, door sensor data, storage locations and batch records.
Expected outcomes
- ↓Time outside limits
- ↓Product damage rate
- ↓Out-of-limit incidents
- ↓Time to restore conditions
- Who it serves
- Cold-store managers, cold-chain transport managers and quality managers
- Initial scope
- One cold store, one transport route
Measure outcomes consistently: agree the indicators and record a baseline before starting, then compare results using the same definitions.
How it works
Collect → Assess → Coordinate
Record temperature and humidity throughout
Link temperature, humidity and door sensor records from the factory, vehicle and cold store by batch.
Choose storage zones to suit the goods
Allocate locations in frozen, chilled or controlled-temperature zones according to product requirements.
Respond when conditions change
Prompt door closure when a door is left open or the temperature approaches its limit, and move heat-sensitive goods first.
Where it applies
- Cold stores
- Cold-chain transport
- Pharmaceutical storage
Typical use cases
Environmental monitoring & response and responseAcross industriesRecord environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and noise, and alert the responsible person to act.
Warehouse temperature and humidity, and building noise levels, need continuous attention. Goods and occupants may already be affected by the time limits are exceeded.
Lindos OS records environmental conditions continuously. When readings approach a limit or remain outside the normal range, it alerts the responsible person and tracks the response until conditions return to normal. Monthly summaries by area and time period support operational reviews.
- Place sensors where neededPlace environmental sensors in storage areas or buildings without wiring.
- Give warning before limits are exceededAlert the responsible person when readings approach a limit or remain outside the normal range.
- Review conditions each monthSummarise monthly changes in conditions by area and time period.
Common questions
Does the site need alterations?
No. Deploy into your existing site without rewiring, alterations or interrupting operations. Attach, wear or position the sensors and plug in the receivers. Quantities and locations are agreed after a site survey.
How small can we start?
Start with one cold store and one transport route. Review the results before deciding whether to expand.
How are results measured?
Before starting, both parties agree on measures such as time outside limits, the proportion of goods damaged, out-of-limit incidents and time to restore conditions. Record the baseline, then compare results using the same definitions.
Can temperature records travel with the goods?
Yes. Temperature and humidity records are stored by batch, linking dispatch from the factory, transport, storage and outbound delivery. The record accompanies the batch when it leaves storage.
Do we need to connect existing systems?
Connect existing systems as needed, such as warehouse and transport management. Agree the integration scope before the project starts.
Who provides operational support?
Lindos delivers the sensors, Lindos OS, system integrations and operational support. Lindos provides remote support; on-site support is agreed for each project.
